PRE-DELIVERY GUIDE PRIOR TO THE DELIVERY OF YOUR HOT TUBS

Base

You will need to arrange a concrete base, patio slabs, gravel or decking that are level and flat, the same size as the Spa or larger. Your Spa cannot be placed on uneven ground or on grass as it will sink and may damage the lawn and/or Spa.

Gravel

Pea gravel for hot tub base

Gravel is sometimes used.  Pea shingle is simple to level by using a straight 2 x 4 and carpenter's level to check. Crushed rock is another choice.  A disadvantage of gravel is the messy appearance, and weed control issues.

Pressure-treated decking

Railroad ties for hot tub foundation

Pressure-treated decking can be used as a base and will compliment the Western Red Cedar cabinet of all Sapphire Spas Hot Tubs. The decking can be fitted to a base frame made from 125mm X 50mm timber which must be supported at regular intervals.

Patio Stones

Patio Slabs

Another foundation choice is pre-cast concrete patio slabs. Depending on the size of your spa and the stones, two rows of four (8) or three rows of three (9) is usually enough, if evenly spaced.  Make sure they are well seated and level.

Concrete Slab

Poured concrete slab for spa foundation

Although expensive, a poured concrete slab about 4" in thickness is a common choice for a permanent installation, and can be made a little wider than the spa to provide for a clean walkway and space for Hot Tub steps.

Electrical Supply

RCD Electric Circuit Breaker

RCD

There must be an appropriate electrical supply (13 or 32 amps depending on the model (see Sapphire Spas spec below.) This must be wired through an R.C.D (or circuit breaker) usually 2 meters away from the Spa or from the fuse box. Any buried or exposed cable should be armoured and should terminate next to the site of the Spa. The Sapphire Spas installation teams will only need bare cable of 4/6mm to connect your Spa. Please leave enough cable for our fitters to connect the cable to the control box. The cable will enter the cabinet at any corner of the Spa until it reaches the control box which is situated in the middle of the side of the Spa showing the control pad.

We recommend that all electrical work be carried out by a qualified electrician. All our fitters require is the cable and bare wires to connect to the Spa unless a Coral Sands range where a normal three pin socket can be used to fit onto the end of your cable, ready for us to plug in.

Water

Hosepipe

There must be a water supply within reach of the Spa - usually this is a hosepipe. A hosepipe can also be used for emptying the Spa easily, using the Sapphire Spas drain system and adaptor supplied. If possible when we deliver an additional hosepipe connected to a neighbours tap would be very helpful for us.

Delivery and Access

Delivery

The Spa will be delivered on a Mercedes purpose made sprinter truck. Please ensure there is adequate access to your driveway and Spa site.

Hot Tubs will be positioned using a Hot Tub dolly truck. It will be mounted sideways onto the dolly. If you have ordered a Spa, but feel the dolly will not be adequate for manoeuvring your Spa, then please let us know so that we can discuss your individual requirements. We reserve the right to leave the Spa at the entrance of your residence if access cannot be made via the means we have described in this delivery guide. To avoid disappointment please check the 'points to consider' below.

Access

Please make a careful note of the Hot Tub measurements and check that we will have enough room to site the Spa. You should also add a small amount to the Spas actual size for the packaging. Average measurements are 2500mm high X 900mm wide but please check with Sapphire Spas to confirm exact specifications as sizes differ with each range.

Points to consider

1. Are doors, gates and alleyways large enough?
2. Does the Spa have to be taken over lawn or gravel? If so, please make sure boards are put down for protection and to assist delivery if necessary. The dolly truck will not travel over a lawn or uneven ground.
3. Have you taken into account obstructions such as drainpipes, shelves, guttering, taps etc? Make sure these are removed prior to delivery if necessary. The overall height of the Spa will be higher by about 500mm due to using the dolly truck.
4. Is there enough room for turning the Spa in tight corners to move it into position?
5. Is there enough room to access the Spa, once it is in position? We recommend that there is access to all four sides however, it is particularly important that there is one access to a side containing the control pad.
6. Are there any steep slopes or walls? We can manage small slopes or walls if extra labour is on site to help take the spa off the trolley. For larger walls and steep slopes, then a crane may be necessary. This extra cost for the crane would have to be met by you.
Sapphire Spas will supply two men to install your Hot Tubs. If you think the Spa will have to be removed from the dolly for any reason then you will need to arrange extra labour to assist.

Thankyou for taking the time to read our delivery guide.
